"Send us around the world with the news of your saving power and your eternal plan for all mankind"
Psalms 67:2 (LB)
"We are all partners in mission...Mission is constantly moving, changing, and interconnecting...it means that we will have a loving heart, and open mind, and a searching soul filled with the truth of the gospel, because we are called to serve one another and bear one another's burdens." Mutuality in Mission p.54
So be careful how your act; these are difficult days. Don't be fools; be wise: make the most of every opportunity you have for doing good. Don't act thoughtlessly, but try to find out and do whatever the Lord wants you to.
Ephesians 5:15-17 (LB)
Do all the good you can
By all the means you can
In all the ways you can
In all the places you can
At all the times you can
To all the people you can
As long as ever you can

United Methodist Colleges - Is There a Difference?
Yes! There is a huge difference in the relationship between United Methodist Women and the several United Methodist related colleges in the Virginia Annual Conference. Ferrum is the only one actually initiated by the Methodist Women's Missionary Society as a mission project for mountain children. That was in 1913 and Ferrum has gone through many stages in 90 years but United Methodist Women and the Virginia Annual Conference are still represented on the Board of Trustees and would be recipients of the proceeds should Ferrum College ever cease to exist.

UBUNTU MOZAMBIQUE 2008
Addie Haynes, Chris Cole, Becky Breeding, Sue Boltz, and Margaret Sisson journeyed to Mozambique in August with 10 other women from around the United States. We had the opportunity to join with newly elected Bishop Joaquina Filipe Nhanala; Laura Marringue, President Methodist Women’s Society Southern Conference; and Rev. Telma Eduardo, Pastor in the Northern Conference. We also presented prayer shawls to the Bishop and to Telma. We visited the Women’s Society School at Tsalala and worshiped at the Bethlehem UMC in Chicuque. We toured the Hanyane Women’s Shelter and the orphanage and school at Chicuque and the Tinga Tinga Training Center and Primary school in Gaza. We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in various seminar topics with the Mozambique women such as Sue sharing on first aid. In addition to distributing malaria nets to the orphanage and school we were able to present the Nothing But Nets basketball obtained during General Conference by the Brazil Conference, the Mozambique Conference and the Virginia Conference to Bishop Nhanala. The basketball will make its home in her office! It was also a joy to again see Amado Mucambe while in Maputo. Many of you will remember him as our interpreter while we hosted the Mozambique women.
In August 2005, Christine Cole, Coordinator for Education and Interpretation, and Betty Whitehurst, President, Virginia UMW, visited Mozambique with a Virginia conference Leadership Team. There they met with Maria Z. Garrine, President of the United Methodist Women's Society; Nocia Madonela Machado, wife of Bishop Joao Somane Machado; and Ilda Suzana, Administrative Secretary for the Women's Society. They also attended a Women's Conference at the Pagula United Methodist Parish, and net women from a number of districts and local churches. During their time there, they participated in the dedication of the Girl's Dormitory, built for Cambine High School with funds from Virginia Annual Conference offerings, and of the Girls and Women's Training Center at Tinga-tinga, also built with funds provided by the Virginia Annual conference. Click here for a translation of the speech given by Maria Garrine at the Tinga-tinga dedication ceremony.
