1. UMW 101: Women in Mission
Ø
Organize a volunteer work experience for the Conference Mission Team
Ø
Encourage Districts to offer hands-on-mission opportunities.
Ø
Achieve a 2% increase in 2009 and 2010 Mission Today and Five and Six Star Units.
Ø
Increase Mission Giving by at least 3% through Pledge to Mission, Special
Mission Recognition,
Gift to Mission Cards, Gifts in Memory, World Thank Offering and Candle Burning.
Ø
Promote 100% participation by the Mission Team and the District Presidents in the Reading Program Plan 1.
Ø
Nurture a sister relationship with the United Methodist Women's Society of Mozambique.
Ø
Promote the World Federation of Methodist and Uniting Church Women.
Ø
Create a Social Action Award.
2. Prayer and Action in Our World Today
Ø
Promote social action through increased awareness of the three priority issues:
- Economic Justice
- Immigration
- Environmental Issues

Increase the involvement of local units in implementing the Charter For Racial Justice Policies.
3. Membership Development

Develop an online college women's community
Ø
Increase attendance at all conference events

Continue to work with districts to encourage accurate reporting through raising awareness of membership criteria

Linking United Methodist Women
Ø
Explore the possibility of new events for Young Women on the conference or district levels
Ø
Continue to nurture membership growth through establishing at least three (3) new units in 2009
and three (3) in
2010
Ø
Continue and publicize scholarships for all conference events
Ø
Continue to publicize United Methodist Women's news and opportunities for mission in every way
Ø
Work intentionally with other Virginia Conference agencies and organizations to promote mission and social action
