The following projects were awarded grants from the Jean Craig/Agnes Burr Misison Fund for 2008.

 

            Belize Vacation Bible School – supplies

            Hanhane Women’s Shelter – Mozambique

            Rising Hope United Methodist Mission Church – develop “Growing Rising Hope,  Alexandria District.

            Mattaponi Healing Eagle Free Health Clinic – purchase vaccines-pneumonia/flu. Rappahannock District

            Agape Christian Children’s Community Center – scholarships summer program. Eastern Shore District

            Helen M. Moe – Ubuntu Journey to China, Danville District

            Park UMC-Neighborhood Sonshine Klub – summer program, Roanoke District

            Wesley Memorial UMC – Club Sandwich – after school program, Norfolk District

            Mission Giving – Women’s Division

 

For the first time the conference awarded scholarships from the Lucy Clyde Blanton Fund.  The recipients were: 

            Blanca Castaneda, student Franklin County High School.  Plans to attend Radford University and major in nursing,  Danville District 

            Ruth Loyer, RN Johns Hopkins Hospital Cancer Center.  Plans to attend a graduate nursing program in order to become a family nurse practitioner.
