2010 Children's Reading Program

Now, we want to give children an opportunity to read these books, receive credit when the criteria are met and then receive a Reading Program certificate.  Since United Methodist Women are concerned about ALL children, we want to invite any child wishing to participate.  Some units may have a circle of elementary school girls, but anyone can participate.  This program is for children 3-12.  Books may be read to children ages 3-6, but children 7-12 must read the books themselves.

The  reading list offers a wide variety of subjects to not only increase awareness of global concerns, but also to enhance spirituality and concern for others in the community.  This is an excellent way to let children be involved, learn more about the Purpose and feel the concern   of the United Methodist Women for children.

You may get complete information regarding the Children’s Reading Program, including guidelines and suggestions, the book list and a report form, from your District Secretary of Program Resources.  All of this information is also found on the conference UMW website at www.vaumw.org.  A special certificate will be prepared for children who complete the program and will be presented at your District Annual Meeting in 2010.
